Clinical Coordinator Nurse Practitioner

Full time, Days and Evenings36 Hrs week Collaboratively reporting to the Harper College Dean of Student Affairs and the Executive Director of ICC and OH Wellness, responsible for department coordination and supervision within the Harper Health Services Clinic. Provides professional nursing services to students and employees. Serves as expert clinician and client advocate. Provides direct care to include comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosing, planning and prescribing in a non-specialized area of practice. Administers medication when appropriate. Collaborates with the health care team to achieve optimal care outcomes. This job description was developed in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. 1. Coordinates, directs and supervises Harper Health Care student services and clinic staff. Establishes and supports departmental policies, procedures, goals, and strategies. Oversees and manages the budget of Health Services in collaboration with the Harper College Dean of Student Affairs. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals. Supports strategic plan of the Harper College Health Services Clinic in collaboration with the Harper College Dean of Student Affairs. 2. Serves as expert clinician and client advocate. Provides direct patient care to include comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosing, planning and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of health problems, health promotion and preventive care within specialized area of practice; administers medication where appropriate. Collaborates with physicians and health care teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates expertise in performing designated privileges per privileging process as defined by Northwest Community Healthcare. 3. Provides professional nursing services to students and employees. Serves as clinical lead and primary Nurse Practitioner to provide professional nursing services and health care to students and College employees, emphasizing health education and prevention. 4. Provides general physical examinations for students and also sports physicals. Coordinates and administers emergency first aid and treatment of minor illness and injury. 5. Collaborates and consults with administrators, faculty, and staff regarding the health needs of the Harper community. Collaborates with local health agencies for the benefit of the College community. Coordinates a comprehensive wellness and prevention program. Facilitates and reviews ongoing program evaluation. 6. Coordinates the maintenance of health records for college employees and students who utilize health services on campus. Coordinates the documentation required for intercollegiate athletic participation. Completes and maintains records of client visits using electronic medical records system. 7. Demonstrates collaborative working relationship with affiliating agencies to determine health requirements for faculty and students participating in Health Career Programs. 8. Serves as a member of the Harper Early Alert Team (HEAT). 9. Coordinates athletic injury reporting and referrals. Performs and interprets laboratory tests and results. Serves as ordering provider for laboratory tests. Evaluates immunization and health histories and administers immunizations as needed. Updates physicals, determines health status and verifies physical requirements for students in Health Career Programs and athletes participating in intercollegiate sports. 10. Adheres to all Northwest Community Healthcare policies and procedures. Qualifications 1. The completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing. 2. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner and current Illinois Advance Practice Nursing license. 3. Demonstrated expertise with a minimum of three years of nursing clinical experience in the area of specialty. 4. State controlled substance license and DEA license if defined in privileging agreement. 5. Current CPR certification for basic life support provider through the American Heart Association. 6. The critical thinking skills necessary to perform physical assessment of patients, initiate appropriate clinical interventions and evaluate patient response. 7. The interpersonal skills necessary to relate effectively with various levels of organizational personnel. 8. The leadership and organizational skills necessary to participate in program improvement teams/projects and educational program development skills. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
